With some time and creativity, old items of furntiure, or even broken items from a bric-a-brac shop, can be revitalised and encorporated into your room. It's the finishing touches and small details such as the handles or paint effect that make the real difference.

Armoire

With a lick of paint in simple colours and adding a distressed, antique finish and some guilding this edwardian wardrobe was rescued. The addition of antique french ormolu cartouche and handles transformed it into something unique and special.

Washstand

This plain wooden wash stand was smartened up with a delicate paint effect, including the creation of a marble-effect top to add that finishing touch.

Desk

This old desk was given a new lease of life after some mending and painting. The ivy leaf design was added to help incorporate the item into the room it was destined for.
