Taking an old item of broken furniture and reinventing
it is time consuming but well worth it. It is a great way to create a unique piece of furnture that fits in perfectly with
your room design.
This table had lost all its veneer and its original marble top, but once repaired and a new wooden top added,
it was painted in a buttery cream and a design of acanthus scrolls and running leaves added in burnt umber. The finished item
was distressed, and protected with an antiquing lacquer.
This chair had its loose joints
fixed and was completely resprung. The Edwardian style was created using a gustarvian grey paint with a distressed finish
and an apropriately chosen aubergine "Tuileries" fabric.
The above chair, in pieces, was transformed into the chair
seen below.
Simple additions such as the leaf design around the edge
of this table make a real difference to the overall impression of the finished item.
